About the role
MDaaS Global operates modern, tech-enabled healthcare clinics across Africa. Under the BeaconHealth Diagnostics brand, we provide radiology, pathology, and cardiology services to over 2,000 hospitals and clinics. We are looking for a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team in Umuahia, Abia State.
This is a full-time, onsite position within the Clinic Operations department. You will report directly to the Center Manager. The role focuses on running the laboratory, ensuring accurate diagnostic results, and maintaining high standards of quality control.
Responsibilities
- Handle specimen collection, receipt, labelling, and preparation for testing.
- Perform diagnostic tests in chemistry, haematology, urinalysis, coagulation, immunology, microbiology, and toxicology.
- Assess result validity and ensure testing methods follow established quality control procedures.
- Record results accurately and confidentially in BeaconOS, our internal clinical platform.
- Communicate abnormal patient conditions to the Center Manager, pathologist, or referring clinician.
- Maintain equipment through routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Supervise the Laboratory Technician and support staff training.
- Ensure a safe and secure environment for patients and colleagues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
- Current licence to practise from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
- Completion of NYSC or valid exemption.
- Minimum of 2 years’ post-licence experience in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory.
- Demonstrated competence in at least two disciplines among chemistry, haematology, microbiology, and immunology.
- Strong attention to quality control, documentation, and confidentiality.
- Computer literacy and comfort with digital record systems.
