About the role
Leap MicroFinance Institution is seeking a Loan Monitoring & Recovery Officer to join their team. This full-time position is available in two locations: Abuja (FCT) and Nasarawa. There are two openings for this role.
As a Loan Monitoring & Recovery Officer, you will oversee the active loan portfolio to ensure timely repayments. You will assess client financial health and implement strategies to recover overdue loans. The role also involves conducting due diligence on loan applications and ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the active loan portfolio to ensure timely repayments.
- Regularly assess clients’ financial health and business performance.
- Conduct thorough due diligence on loan applications to confirm the authenticity of provided information.
- Validate client collateral and assess associated risks.
- Validate all employees’ guarantors to ensure they are in good standing.
- Implement strategies to recover overdue loans, including client engagement and restructuring repayment plans.
- Initiate legal or law enforcement proceedings when necessary to recover defaulted amounts.
- Prepare detailed reports on loan performance, highlighting areas of concern and recommending corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of all monitoring, verification, and recovery activities.
- Ensure all loan processes adhere to internal policies and regulatory standards.
- Stay updated on relevant financial regulations and industry best practices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to foster trust and facilitate effective communication.
- Provide financial counseling to clients facing repayment challenges.
- Report to C-Suite Executives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 3 years of relevant experience.
