About the role
Dangote Industries Limited is seeking a Legal Officer to support the Head of Legal for Pan-Africa (Anglophone). Based at the Mtwara Plant in Tanzania, you will focus on the legal operations of the cement business. Your primary goal is to ensure company operations comply with applicable laws and internal policies while supporting contract management, regulatory filings, and corporate governance.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local and regional regulatory requirements.
- Provide legal advice on Tanzanian laws relevant to the cement industry, including the Companies Act, Environmental Management Act, and Employment and Labour Relations Act.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including supply agreements and service contracts.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies such as the Tanzania Revenue Authority and BRELA for statutory filings.
- Assist in managing disputes and coordinate with external counsel on litigation matters.
- Support board and committee meetings by preparing resolutions, minutes, and compliance reports.
- Collaborate with legal teams across Pan-African jurisdictions to harmonise legal practices.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience in corporate or commercial law.
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from a recognised university.
- Admission to the Bar in Tanzania is an advantage.
- Fluency in Swahili and English.
- Strong knowledge of Tanzanian corporate, labour, and environmental law.
- Experience in the manufacturing or extractive sector is preferred.
