About the role
Apex Network is a financial services firm focused on enabling secure Bitcoin transactions globally. We are looking for a Legal & Compliance Manager to serve as the primary architect of our legal strategy and regulatory compliance framework. This hybrid role in Lagos requires a blend of technical legal expertise and the agility to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the application process for financial licenses (IMTO, PSP, VASP, EMI, etc.) in target jurisdictions.
- Research and interpret evolving Fintech and Web3 regulations in Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon, Poland, and the Americas.
- Design, implement, and manage robust AML/KYC/CFT policies and internal audit procedures.
- Act as the primary point of contact for regulators, financial intelligence units, and external legal counsel.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements and partnership contracts.
- Proactively identify legal risks in product roadmaps and provide actionable solutions to the Executive team.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and relevant professional certification (CAMS or equivalent preferred).
- 10 years of experience in legal/compliance, with at least 3-5 years specifically within Fintech, Crypto, or Web3.
- Demonstrated experience managing compliance in at least two core regions (Africa, EU, or Americas).
- Deep understanding of blockchain technology, smart contracts, and decentralized finance (DeFi).
- Strong strategic thinking and communication skills to translate complex legal jargon into clear business advice.
