About the role
Velvot Nigeria Limited is a digital transformation firm specializing in Microsoft technologies and cloud solutions. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Law graduate to join our Legal and Compliance Department as a Legal and Compliance Assistant. This role offers hands-on experience in corporate counsel functions, supporting the legal, regulatory, and documentation needs of the group.
Responsibilities
- Monitor regulatory changes and prepare briefings on their business impact.
- Review employee-facing documents such as contracts, handbooks, and policies to ensure alignment with Nigerian labour and data protection laws.
- Assist with regulatory filings, returns, and responses to regulator requests.
- Maintain a contract register, template library, and track renewals and key dates.
- Oversee the legal soundness and approval of internal agreements and policies.
- Draft, review, and advise on commercial agreements including NDAs, SLAs, and vendor contracts.
- Prepare and implement a legal awareness program.
- Flag legal risks and escalate non-standard terms to management.
- Draft and update Privacy Policies and Data Agreements.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and successful completion of Law School (BL).
- At least 1 year of post-qualification experience in a legal or compliance role.
- Must have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
- Strong interest in becoming a Corporate Counsel.
- Exceptional legal research, writing, and communication skills.
- Highly detail-oriented and analytical.
