About the role
FairMoney Nigeria is building a leading mobile bank for emerging markets. We are looking for a Lead Risk Manager & Portfolio Owner to take full ownership of our Android Quick Loans portfolio in Nigeria. This is a senior, “mini-CEO” position where you will be responsible for the commercial, economic, risk, and people outcomes of a high-volume lending product.
The role is fully remote, provided your timezone has significant overlap with CET.
Responsibilities
- Manage portfolio economics, including revenue, Gross Loan Book growth, and risk-adjusted profit.
- Build and own the annual business plan and monthly forecasts for the Android portfolio.
- Develop and refine end-to-end credit strategies for new, returning, and high-risk customer segments.
- Translate credit strategies into decision-engine rules and drive their implementation.
- Design and manage controlled A/B tests and experiments to improve performance.
- Lead a senior credit-strategy team and build strong cross-functional relationships with Product, Engineering, and Finance.
- Make delegated decisions within agreed risk and financial thresholds.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in consumer credit risk, credit strategy, or lending portfolio management.
- Proven experience owning a material lending portfolio, including responsibility for revenue and profitability.
- Strong experience with digital unsecured lending; Nigerian or African market experience is strongly preferred.
- Advanced understanding of credit metrics such as PD, LGD, EAD, IFRS 9/ECL, and roll rates.
- Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python or equivalent analytical tools.
- Demonstrated ability to build senior teams and lead complex cross-functional projects.
