About the role

Ramos Electric Power Limited (REPL) is developing a 600 MW greenfield lignite-fired power plant at Obomkpa in Delta State. We are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical & Grid Engineer to serve as the technical authority for the plant’s electrical systems, the 330 kV grid connection, and the private 132 kV network supplying the Special Economic Zone (SEZ). This is a 24-month fixed-term contract with the option to extend into the construction phase.

Responsibilities

  • Plan the integrated operation of the plant and SEZ network, including frequency/voltage control and island operation.
  • Specify key equipment such as generators, transformers, switchgear, and emergency power supplies.
  • Design the private 132 kV SEZ network and the 33 kV supply to the mine.
  • Support NERC licensing, Grid Connection Agreements, and review Owner’s Engineer electrical work.
  • Write electrical requirements for EPC contracts and lead technical bid evaluations.
  • Lead grid-connection work with TCN, including studies and defining 330 kV switchyard requirements.
  • Set protection, metering, and SCADA requirements in line with IEC standards and the Nigerian Grid Code.

Requirements

  • COREN registration or eligibility to register within three months of starting.
  • B.Eng. or B.Sc. in Electrical or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • At least 12 years in power generation or transmission, including 5+ years in power-plant electrical design or grid connection on projects of 100 MW or larger.
  • Hands-on experience with 330 kV or 132 kV substations and specifying generators/transformers.
  • Working knowledge of ETAP, PSS/E, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory, and IEC standards.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to travel within Nigeria and internationally for factory acceptance tests.
