About the role
LS Scientific Limited is a provider of laboratory products and services, including training, equipment servicing, calibration, and laboratory design. We are looking for a skilled and analytical Chemist to join our laboratory team in Lagos. This full-time position requires a strong commitment to quality, safety, and compliance with approved testing procedures.
Responsibilities
- Conduct chemical and physicochemical testing on food, water, environmental, and industrial samples.
- Prepare reagents, standards, solutions, and calibration materials according to approved methods.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical equipment such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, and AAS.
- Record, calculate, interpret, and report results accurately while maintaining sample traceability.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, safety, and equipment readiness.
- Monitor reagent and consumable stock levels and report procurement needs.
- Support method verification, validation, quality control, and proficiency testing.
- Assist with internal and external audits and corrective actions.
Requirements
- BSc or HND in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on analytical laboratory experience.
- Practical experience in chemical or physicochemical testing and sample preparation.
- Knowledge of analytical methods, laboratory quality control, and result interpretation.
- Understanding of GLP, laboratory SOPs, and ISO/IEC 17025 principles.
- Good numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate technical documentation.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IPAN) and a valid practising licence are strong advantages.
