About the role
Villa Park Hotel and Suites is seeking a dedicated Internal Auditor to join our team in Abuja (FCT). Founded in 2007, the hotel is committed to providing exceptional service and luxury experiences. This full-time position offers the opportunity to contribute to the professionalism and integrity of our hospitality operations.
Responsibilities
- Independently review the hotel’s financial and operational controls to identify risks and recommend improvements.
- Plan and conduct risk-based audits covering revenue, cash handling, purchasing, payroll, inventory, and general operations.
- Review room revenue, discounts, complimentary services, voids, and POS transactions to ensure proper approval and accuracy.
- Perform cash counts, stock checks, and tests of supporting records and reconciliations.
- Assess compliance with hotel policies and relevant statutory requirements.
- Prepare clear audit reports with findings, evidence, and corrective recommendations.
- Follow up on agreed actions and report unresolved control weaknesses to management while maintaining confidentiality.
Requirements
- BSc or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of internal audit or relevant assurance experience, preferably in the hospitality sector.
- Strong knowledge of internal controls, risk assessment, audit documentation, and inventory processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting or hotel operating systems.
- Independence, integrity, analytical ability, and clear report-writing skills.
- ICAN, ACCA, or CIA qualification is an advantage.
