About the role

Garki Hospital Abuja is a 100-plus bedded hospital in the FCT, operating under a Public Private Partnership with Nisa Premier Hospital. We are looking for an Internal Audit Officer to join our team. This full-time position is based in Garki, Abuja. The role involves supporting the audit department by reviewing financial transactions, testing internal controls, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate compliance with healthcare sector guidelines, statutory tax laws, and internal policies.
  • Assist in conducting routine internal audits, financial reviews, and operational assessments.
  • Prepare clear and concise audit working papers and draft reports.
  • Follow up on the implementation of previous audit recommendations to ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Verify financial transactions, vouchers, and accounting records to ensure accuracy and proper documentation.
  • Examine internal controls and identify areas of potential risk or operational leakages.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in audit, accounting, or financial operations, strictly within the health sector.
  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc/HND) in Accounting, Banking and Finance, Economics, or other related fields.
  • Skills: Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and basic audit methodologies.
  • Technical: Proficiency in accounting packages and Microsoft Excel.
  • Personal: High level of personal integrity, confidentiality, strong attention to detail, and an analytical mindset.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with healthcare billing systems, medical claims tracking, or hospital inventory workflow.
