About the role
Okta is looking for an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the Emerging Products Group in Bengaluru. This position focuses on building highly reliable, scalable, and secure cloud services. You will work with an automation-first mindset to support engineering teams in moving quickly and safely. The role is hybrid.
Responsibilities
- Reliability & Operations: Design and operate large-scale cloud infrastructure. Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident response efforts. Define and improve Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and error budgets. Enhance observability through metrics, logging, and tracing.
- Engineering & Automation: Develop software and automation using Go, Python, and Terraform. Reduce operational toil through tooling and platform engineering. Improve deployment safety using CI/CD and GitOps practices. Build self-service platforms and operational guardrails to support developer velocity.
Requirements
- Strong experience operating large-scale production services in AWS and/or GCP.
- Deep expertise with Kubernetes in production environments, including troubleshooting networking, storage, and scaling issues.
- Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform and Helm.
- Strong software engineering skills in Golang and/or Python.
- Experience building automation and internal engineering platforms.
- Experience operating distributed data platforms like PostgreSQL, Redis, or MySQL.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking fundamentals, including DNS, load balancing, and TLS.
- Experience with observability platforms and production telemetry.
- Proven ability to balance reliability, scalability, security, and engineering velocity.
