About the role
Okta is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join the Advanced Integration Builder team in Bengaluru. You will help build the trusted infrastructure that allows organizations to safely embrace AI by securing access to thousands of third-party applications. This is a backend-intensive position where you will own the technical design and implementation of integration components end-to-end.
Responsibilities
- Drive the design and implementation of new app connectors, provisioning capabilities, and authentication flows primarily in Java services.
- Build and maintain REST/SOAP API clients and OAuth2/SAML authentication handlers for third-party SaaS and enterprise applications.
- Implement user and group provisioning adapters and scheduled sync jobs to keep identity data consistent.
- Apply retry, backoff, and rate-limiting strategies to handle vendor API quirks and ensure resilience at scale.
- Ensure credential handling, token exchange, and audit logging meet Okta’s security and compliance standards.
- Partner with product managers and support teams to prioritize integrations and resolve customer connectivity issues.
- Participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot production issues, and improve observability for sync jobs.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience building and operating reliable, production-grade backend services.
- Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, with the ability to own services from design through production support.
- Experience with distributed systems, including asynchronous job processing and event-driven patterns.
- Proficiency with relational databases (MySQL) and caching layers (Redis or similar).
- Practical experience with retry/backoff strategies, rate-limiting, and handling third-party API throttling.
- Comfortable building and modifying UI in React and JSP to independently deliver frontend components.
- B.E./M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
