About the role
Tetra Maritime, a leading Nigerian ship owner and operator, is seeking a disciplined and experienced individual to join their team in Lagos. As the Hostel Warden & Drill Sergeant (Residential), you will play a critical role in the Sealearn Academy. This position combines hostel management, cadet welfare, military-style training, and security. You will reside in the hostel and be responsible for maintaining order, safety, and accountability for cadets on a 24/7 basis during academic terms.
Responsibilities
- Enforce strict discipline and Academy rules, including daily parades, drills, and inspections.
- Monitor cadet behavior, attendance, and welfare, while mentoring them on professional development.
- Manage day-to-day hostel operations, including curfews, study periods, and hygiene standards.
- Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the Vice Principal and Principal.
- Ensure the security and safety of cadets, staff, and property, including coordinating emergency procedures.
- Maintain a complete inventory of hostel assets and report any losses or damage.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience in military, naval, maritime, security, or residential training environments.
- Strong report-writing, administrative, and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Preferred: Qualification or training in Military, Naval, Maritime, Security, Leadership, Education, or Health & Safety.
- Preferred: First Aid and safeguarding training.
- Must be physically fit and able to reside within Academy accommodation during term time.
