About the role
SANY Nigeria, a subsidiary of the global heavy equipment leader SANY Group, is looking for a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer in Lagos. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing occupational health, safety, and environmental management systems. This role ensures compliance with Nigerian safety regulations and SANY Group’s global directives while promoting a proactive safety culture across a diverse workforce.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and update the HSE manual, procedures, and emergency response plans.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections, hazard assessments, and risk analyses (JHA/JSA) across workshops, yards, and field locations.
- Ensure heavy equipment operations, including rigging, lifting, and assembly, adhere to international safety standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) is highly desirable.
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification or equivalent.
- ISPON membership or certification.
- 3–5 years of hands-on HSE experience in heavy equipment, construction, automotive assembly, mining, or oilfield services.
- In-depth knowledge of Nigerian labour laws, the Factories Act, and local state safety board requirements.
- Skills in emergency preparedness, risk assessment, incident investigation, and root cause analysis.
