About the role
EIDU is looking for a Head of Research to join the Impact team. In this position, you will build the organization’s capacity to conduct rigorous education research. You will design and lead studies, translate findings into practical programme decisions, and represent this evidence to donors, governments, and the wider sector. You will work closely with the Head of Measurement & Evaluation to ensure research questions are supported by the necessary data infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of high-quality research studies, including impact evaluations on literacy, numeracy, and transition outcomes.
- Develop research protocols and methodologies suitable for diverse cultural and regional contexts.
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to generate actionable insights for programme improvement.
- Produce high-quality research reports, technical briefs, and evidence summaries for internal and external audiences.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the research team, promoting technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Partner with programme, product, and communications teams to integrate research into organizational priorities.
- Represent EIDU in research collaborations, conferences, and knowledge-sharing forums.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or advanced degree in social sciences, data science, or education.
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Track record of developing a portfolio of applied research projects.
- Strong statistical skills and ability to interpret research findings using quantitative methods.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate technical information for non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work in a start-up environment and navigate complex, fast-changing circumstances.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and end-to-end project ownership.
