About the role
Alan & Grant is seeking a Head of Procurement / Supply Chain to join a leading FMCG company in Lagos. In this position, you will manage the supply chain with a focus on transparency, flexibility, sustainability, and efficiency. You will oversee the full import process, from vessel arrival to the delivery of containers to distributors at the 3PL warehouse.
Responsibilities
- Strengthen quality awareness through regular onsite audits, KPI reviews, and training within the local organization.
- Communicate with internal, external, and HQ stakeholders to understand their needs and support them efficiently.
- Ensure that company-defined quality standards are implemented and executed locally.
- Manage the Sales & Operations Planning process to ensure proper forecasting and inventory management.
- Monitor operational costs and implement cost-saving initiatives using internal and external benchmarks.
- Collaborate with customs brokers and authorities to ensure smooth product importation.
- Ensure all import documents comply with Nigerian guidelines to avoid demurrage or detention.
- Report on sustainability risks and opportunities to HQ and lead sustainability groups in industry associations.
- Manage timely payments to authorities and partners to prevent import delays.
- Develop and centralize purchasing policies, outsource guidelines, and procedures in conjunction with HQ.
- Document processes and systems to ensure adherence to international company standards.
- Provide timely KPI reporting to HQ and internal stakeholders.
- Implement and execute national Health & Safety regulations.
Requirements
- Master’s or University Degree in Industrial Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent.
- Proven record of strategic business integration across functions.
- At least 7 years of experience in Procurement within an international supply chain in a group context.
- High levels of personal energy, drive, and an entrepreneurial ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Experience in project management.
- Hands-on approach with a passion for details.
- Proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement and quality.
- Working knowledge of SAP R/3 and APO is a strong plus.
- Proficiency in MS products such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is a must.
- Specialized qualifications in Logistics/Supply Chain Management are valuable.
