About the role
VFD Group is an alternative financial service holding company dedicated to creating innovative, accessible products for Nigeria’s informal financial sector. We are looking for a Head of Market Research to lead our market intelligence, economic analysis, and data-driven insights. This role supports business strategy, product development, pricing decisions, and capital market development.
Responsibilities
- Provide research input for management presentations, board papers, and investor engagement.
- Develop research-backed recommendations for new products, services, and pricing models.
- Analyze market trends, investor behavior, liquidity, and competitive dynamics.
- Maintain reliable market databases, research models, and performance dashboards.
- Develop and implement the organization’s market research and intelligence strategy.
- Collaborate with Business Development and product teams to identify market opportunities.
- Produce research reports, market outlooks, and strategic briefing notes.
- Build relationships with research institutions, universities, and industry associations.
- Conduct research on Nigeria’s capital markets, private capital, and unlisted securities.
- Establish quality standards for research methods, data integrity, and publication.
- Track local and international capital market developments and regulatory changes.
Requirements
- At least 7–10 years of experience in financial research, economic analysis, or capital markets.
- Proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools; experience with financial databases is desirable.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, report-writing, and presentation skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- A master’s degree or relevant professional qualification is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of financial markets, investment instruments, and economic indicators.
