About the role
BeaconGate Limited is a leading business solution provider in Nigeria, offering human resource support services to various organizations. We are looking for a Head of IT Engineering to lead our software engineering function. This role focuses on driving the design, development, and delivery of secure, scalable, and innovative digital products across our insurance and financial services businesses.
Responsibilities
- Design and oversee scalable microservices, API-first, and enterprise application architectures.
- Drive DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and secure software development practices.
- Build a high-performance engineering culture through coaching and mentoring.
- Oversee application modernization, solution architecture, and technology delivery across the Group.
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including AI and automation.
- Own the end-to-end delivery of enterprise applications and strategic products, including TrustFort.
- Establish engineering standards, coding practices, and Agile delivery frameworks.
- Ensure seamless integration across CRM, payment gateways, AI services, and partner platforms.
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across backend, frontend, mobile, and QA.
- Develop and execute the Group’s engineering strategy in alignment with business objectives.
- Partner with subsidiary Managing Directors to translate business strategy into technology roadmaps.
Requirements
- Proven experience delivering enterprise platforms within the financial services or insurance sector.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
- 8–10 years’ experience in software engineering, with at least 4 years in engineering leadership.
- Experience with AI solution integration, enterprise architecture, and technology transformation.
- Strong expertise in Java/Spring Boot, microservices, API architecture, DevSecOps, and Agile delivery.
