About the role
Memento Microfinance Bank Limited, a Tier 1 Unit microfinance bank licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), is looking for a Head, Internal Audit & Compliance. This position serves as the Chief Compliance Officer and is responsible for leading the bank’s internal audit and compliance functions. The role ensures independent assurance on governance, internal controls, and risk management while overseeing compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal liaison with the Board Audit Committee on internal audit matters.
- Develop and execute the risk-based annual Internal Audit Plan.
- Independently assess the effectiveness of governance, internal controls, and risk management processes.
- Conduct audits of financial, credit, operational, and technology activities.
- Lead the bank’s AML/CFT/CPF programme, including KYC/CDD and sanctions screening.
- Monitor compliance with CBN and other regulatory requirements.
- Manage regulatory correspondence, inspections, and remediation of findings.
- Maintain and review compliance policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience in internal audit, compliance, or financial services.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, Law, or a relevant discipline.
- Relevant professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIA, CISA, or equivalent is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of internal audit, AML/CFT/CPF, and financial-services regulation.
- Certificate in Microfinance Banking from CIBN, or willingness to obtain it.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and stakeholder-management skills.
