About the role
Dangote Industries Limited is seeking a Head, DSR Transport to lead and optimize logistics and fleet operations. Based in Apapa, Lagos, this role focuses on strategic oversight, operational excellence, and driving customer satisfaction through cost-effective transportation and timely delivery.
Responsibilities
- Monitor truck movements to refineries, warehouses, and customer sites to meet delivery schedules.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives and manage workshops, truck parks, and fuel depots efficiently.
- Oversee daily loading, dispatch, and delivery activities across all transport operations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing logistics and fleet team.
- Develop and manage the annual transport and fleet budget in line with corporate objectives.
- Drive logistics planning to achieve On Time, In Full, Invoiced Correctly (OTIFIC) targets.
- Ensure regular inspection, preventive maintenance, and licensing of all fleet vehicles.
- Maintain comprehensive records of performance metrics, safety documentation, and training logs.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Production teams to align logistics with business processes.
- Promote a strong health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) culture across all operations.
Requirements
- 10-15 years of experience in logistics and transport, with a minimum of 10 years in a senior management role.
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) or other relevant professional bodies.
- Minimum of a First Degree in Transportation, Industrial Engineering, Social Sciences, Statistics, Accounting, Management, or related fields.
- Strong skills in strategic thinking, financial management, project management, and people leadership.
- Proficiency in logistics and fleet management systems such as SAP and TMS.
- Excellent report writing, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
