About the role
Coinbase is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its remote-first team in the UAE. You will play a key part in the monthly and quarterly close processes while supporting regulatory reporting for VARA. The company operates with a high-intensity culture focused on building the future of finance. While the role is remote-first, you should expect to attend quarterly in-person working sessions known as “surges.”
Responsibilities
- Manage key activities in the monthly and quarterly close, including reconciliations, journal entries, and balance-sheet analysis.
- Support the preparation, review, and submission of VARA regulatory reporting, ensuring data quality and audit trails are maintained.
- Execute and strengthen SOX controls, maintain process documentation, and support Internal and external audit requests.
- Partner with cross-functional teams on new product launches to ensure accounting and regulatory readiness.
- Review flow of funds, legal-entity impacts, and ledger design for new products.
- Identify opportunities to automate and scale accounting operations through technology and process improvement.
- Identify accounting, reporting, and operational risks early and drive issues to resolution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, controllership, audit, financial services, fintech, or digital assets.
- Strong experience with monthly close, financial reporting, reconciliations, audit support, and internal controls.
- Experience with SOX, regulatory reporting, and control testing; exposure to VARA is strongly preferred.
- Ability to understand end-to-end transaction flows and assess impacts across legal entities and systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to operate independently across international time zones.
- Familiarity with derivatives, digital assets, OmniLedger/ABOR, NetSuite, SQL, or finance analytics tools is preferred.
- Responsibility in utilizing generative AI while maintaining human oversight for business-ready outputs.
Pay and benefits
- Annual base salary: AED 410,000.
- Total compensation may include equity and bonus eligibility.
