About the role
Delivery Hero is seeking a Category Manager to join the team in Muscat. You will focus on growing tMart, the region’s first cloud store concept that offers 30-minute grocery delivery at hypermarket prices. tMart has expanded rapidly across Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, Egypt, Oman, and Iraq.
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of category management, including assortments, pricing, offers, and supply.
- Monitor the economic performance of assigned departments, focusing on sales, gross margin, and profit and loss.
- Implement commercial strategies and strategic guidelines, including category plans and pricing strategies.
- Provide input to operations teams regarding flows, adjacencies, tools, templates, and fixtures.
- Review and resolve issues with local suppliers.
- Define and maintain local assortments while ensuring cost efficiency for consumers.
- Select local suppliers and negotiate purchasing terms such as cost price, discounts, and payment terms.
- Price items based on guidelines and conduct country price audits.
- Identify local promotional products, develop the country promotion calendar, and ensure effective execution of promotional events.
- Analyze consumer preferences, local competitors, and trends to improve promotional activities.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in progressive development and management of multiple product categories.
- Experience working for large retailers (FMCG) in an international setting.
- Proven ability to build teams and lead cross-functional projects at scale.
- Detail-oriented, structured, and capable of prioritizing tasks to deliver solutions.
- Willingness to be hands-on, including working on the warehouse floor or taking customer calls when necessary.
- Ability to interact with senior-level executives and manage expectations of multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills with a hands-on approach to tools.
- Robust interpersonal and intercultural skills to inspire teams and stakeholders.
- Fluent English and Arabic would be highly advantageous.
