About the role

Emeraid International Group Limited is a development and enterprise conglomerate that integrates advisory, financial structuring, and asset-backed financing. We are looking for a Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead our lean shared-services platform. This role focuses on strengthening delivery and institutional resilience without duplicating existing specialist functions.

The COO will take ownership of day-to-day operating performance. You will turn commitments into practical plans, ensure managers deliver results, resolve bottlenecks, and protect project margins. This position is based in Abuja, Nigeria.

Responsibilities

  • Lead people and shared services by clarifying responsibilities, coaching managers, and improving existing capacity before proposing new hires.
  • >Work alongside the CFO to monitor budgets, cost-to-complete, invoicing readiness, and collections to protect margins and cash flow.

  • Strengthen risk, safety, and quality controls by enforcing technical approvals and ensuring corrective action for incidents or audit findings.
  • Own project delivery from mobilisation through close-out, resolving bottlenecks and driving recovery of delayed assignments.
  • Drive operational performance by maintaining a reliable portfolio dashboard and leading weekly performance reviews.
  • Execute Group strategy by translating approved priorities into practical operating plans, budgets, and milestones.
  • Reduce dependence on the CEO by personally owning routine operational decisions and escalating material exceptions with clear options.
  • Manage client and partner commitments to ensure timely communication, accurate reporting, and complete documentation.

Requirements

  • A relevant Degree or equivalent professional qualification supported by demonstrable operating leadership.
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience, including five years of substantial operational leadership across multiple projects or business units.
  • Experience in at least two relevant settings, such as development consulting, renewable energy, enterprise services, or technology projects.
  • Strong spreadsheet and management-reporting capability, with the ability to interpret financial forecasts.
  • Evidence of delivery recovery, resource allocation, budget accountability, and manager development.
  • Sound judgement, integrity, and a constructive record of working with founders and specialist leaders.
