About the role
West African Exploration and Production company (WAEP) is seeking a Gas Development & Infrastructure Professional to join its Engineering & Projects department in Lagos. This full-time position reports to the Head of Engineering & Projects or the Project Director. The role involves leading and coordinating gas development and infrastructure initiatives, ensuring they are technically robust, commercially viable, and safely delivered.
Responsibilities
- Lead feasibility, concept selection, and engineering studies for gas gathering, processing, compression, pipelines, and export infrastructure.
- Define project scope, design basis, technical specifications, cost estimates, schedules, and execution strategies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements, HSE, and Nigerian Content obligations.
- Identify and mitigate technical, schedule, cost, constructability, and operability risks.
- Coordinate engineering contractors, consultants, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Support commissioning, start-up, handover, and project close-out activities.
- Provide management reporting on project progress, cost, risks, milestones, and key decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, Civil, or a related Engineering discipline.
- 10-15 years of relevant oil and gas project or facilities experience with strong gas infrastructure exposure.
- Relevant professional engineering registration and project management certification are strongly preferred.
- Core competencies in stakeholder management, gas processing, project controls, risk management, and contractor management.
