About the role
Backend Office HQ is a business support company that helps clients improve efficiency and sales operations through outsourced services. We are looking for a Full-Stack Software Engineer & Data Automation Developer to join our team on a fully remote basis. This role combines full-stack development with data automation, specifically focusing on building and maintaining robust scraping pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain back-end services using Python with Django or FastAPI.
- Build front-end interfaces using React or a similar modern JavaScript/TypeScript framework.
- Design and implement resilient data scraping pipelines using tools like BeautifulSoup, Scrapy, Playwright, or Selenium.
- Clean, structure, and store scraped data into PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
- Monitor production systems for bugs, performance issues, and uptime.
- Work independently in a remote-first environment, adapting pipelines quickly when target sites change structure.
Requirements
- Must have: A Bachelor’s Degree.
- Must have: Strong understanding of REST API design and third-party integrations.
- Must have: Excellent written communication skills for asynchronous collaboration.
- Must have: Hands-on experience building Python scrapers (BeautifulSoup, Scrapy, Playwright, or Selenium).
- Must have: Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases, and comfort with NoSQL when needed.
- Must have: Proficiency with Docker and one cloud platform (AWS or GCP).
- Must have: Practical full-stack engineering experience (no minimum years, but demonstrated ability required).
- Nice to have: Open-source contributions or a strong GitHub portfolio.
- Nice to have: DevOps or infrastructure-as-code experience.
- Nice to have: Knowledge of anti-bot techniques (proxies, headless browsers) used responsibly.
- Nice to have: Experience in startup or fast-paced environments.
