About the role
Max Drive is a technology-enabled company focused on solving mobility challenges in Africa. They are looking for a Fleet Operations Manager to join their team in Lagos. In this role, you will be responsible for maximizing vehicle uptime, maintaining accurate digital records in their proprietary Computerized Maintenance Management System (VAMS), and streamlining the vehicle lifecycle from procurement to refurbishment. You will also foster strong cross-functional collaboration to meet operational targets.
Responsibilities
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all vehicles within your jurisdiction and ensure data entered into VAMS is error-free. Monitor vehicle status to keep inactive vehicles below 10% and track daily activations.
- Vehicle Setup: Set up newly procured vehicles within defined budgets and timelines. Coordinate documentation processes and ensure all activation-ready vehicles are activated and uploaded to VAMS accurately.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure vehicles scheduled for maintenance are checked in and recorded in VAMS. Coordinate with authorized service workshops and OEMs to track warranty issues and close out insurance claims within allocated timeframes.
- Vehicle Refurbishment: Assess deactivated or churned vehicles for refurbishment. Ensure churned vehicles are re-certified according to SOPs and work with the growth team to activate recertified vehicles with zero returns.
- Administrative Function: Manage and motivate subordinate teams, drive accountability through performance management, and efficiently manage disbursed petty cash.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline. An MBA or relevant certifications is an advantage.
- Experience: 3–5 years of progressive experience in fleet management, logistics operations, or workshop management. Experience in startups, mobility, fintech, logistics, marketplaces, or tech-enabled businesses is strongly preferred.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, strong team leadership, excellent stakeholder management, and commercial acumen.
