About the role
Dangote Industries Limited is seeking a Fleet Manager to join its team in Tanzania. This full-time position focuses on managing the transport department, ensuring fleet availability, and maintaining compliance with local regulations. You will work with the Dangote Group, a diversified business conglomerate with headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria.
Responsibilities
- Perform SAP-related activities for the Transport Department, including TMS, MM, and SD modules.
- Maintain vehicle and driver logbooks and ensure proper documentation.
- Ensure fleet availability by scheduling, forecasting, and analyzing user trends.
- Implement corrective actions and capacity building to manage the fleet effectively.
- Oversee vehicle licensing, renewals, and statutory registrations.
- Maintain electronic databases for sales, registration, inspections, and maintenance.
- Review and sign off on periodic vehicle fuelling requests.
- Prepare and submit monthly fleet reports.
- Liaise with approved mechanics workshops for prompt service and repair of trucks.
- Coordinate routine servicing and repairs while maintaining relevant documentation.
- Monitor fleet operations for compliance with local and state rules.
- Conduct periodic vehicle inspections and report incidences to the Head of Department.
Requirements
- Professional qualification in procurement and logistics.
- First Degree or equivalent in Transport and Logistics or Procurement.
- At least five years of experience in a generalist logistics role.
- Good problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications and record management systems.
- Ability to apply scheduling techniques effectively.
