About the role
WTS Energy is looking for a Fleet Director to lead the company’s Marine and Technical Operations functions. Based in Port Harcourt, Rivers, this role involves providing unified oversight to ensure all vessels are safe, seaworthy, and compliant with client, class, and statutory requirements. You will bring navigational safety, technical maintenance, and budget management together under one integrated fleet strategy.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction and performance management to the Marine and Technical Superintendents.
- Align navigational safety, marine operations, and technical maintenance into a single fleet management plan.
- Ensure the fleet meets all Class, Flag State, and statutory requirements, including overseeing Class surveys.
- Monitor fleet compliance with client directives using tools like AIS and eFMS.
- Own the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) strategy and ensure jobs are tracked and closed out.
- Lead the development and monitoring of the annual fleet maintenance budget to drive cost reduction.
- Approve dry-dock scopes, source vendors, and ensure critical spares are available.
- Act as the senior escalation point for client enquiries and operational matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Nautical Science, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in the marine/offshore shipping industry.
- Significant experience in marine and technical superintendency, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience managing large fleets of vessels including AHTS, MPSV, and SCVs.
- Hands-on experience with DP Systems.
- Strong knowledge of vessel maintenance systems, dry-docking processes, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven strategic and budgetary management skills.
- Physical fitness to board vessels at sea and in port.
- Willingness to travel extensively to out ports and offshore locations.
