About the role
mDoc is a digital health startup focused on improving access to quality healthcare for people with chronic health needs in sub-Saharan Africa. We are looking for a Finance Specialist to join our team in Lagos on a full-time basis. This role is central to maintaining accurate financial data and supporting strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Lead finance business partnership activities, including budgeting, product pricing, financial modelling, unit economics, and project financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with contractual provisions on funded projects.
- Own the month-end close process, including journal entries and general ledgers in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
- Serve as the point of contact for annual statutory audits.
- Oversee bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and payroll processing.
- Maintain accurate and decision-ready financial data.
Requirements
- A professional qualification such as CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent.
- 5+ years of combined experience in accounting, financial modelling, and financial operations.
- Experience in a social enterprise, development sector, top-tier accounting firm, or fast-growing company is preferred.
- Mastery of IFRS (US GAAP is a plus).
- Proven expertise in financial modelling, reporting, cashflow analysis, budgeting, taxation, month-end close, and product costing.
