About the role
AIICO Insurance Plc is a financial services group established in 1963, with leading positions in Insurance, Health Maintenance, and Asset Management. We are looking for a Data & Analytics Engineer to join our team in Lagos on a full-time, hybrid basis.
This position blends data engineering and analytics engineering. You will ensure high-quality, well-modeled, and timely data is available for reporting, advanced analytics, and actuarial IFRS17 reporting. You will be responsible for building and maintaining the data pipelines, models, and platforms that power the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and business intelligence initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Data Engineering: Design and optimize dbt models to transform raw data into analytics-ready datasets.
- Design, build, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, dbt, and Airflow.
- Maintain the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) as a trusted single source of truth.
- Ensure proper version control and CI/CD workflows using Git and Azure DevOps.
- Manage organization-wide data collection for IFRS17, automating inputs and producing monthly outputs for actuarial evaluations.
- Analytics Engineering: Provide technical guidance for predictive analytics and advanced statistical modeling.
- Develop and optimize dbt models with tests, documentation, and version control.
- Translate business requirements into scalable data models for analytics and reporting.
- Support the development of BI solutions using SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS.
- Collaborate with analysts, actuaries, and business stakeholders to deliver actionable insights.
Requirements
- HND or B.Sc Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 to 4 years of experience.
- Knowledge of SQL and Python is an added advantage.
