About the role
Africhange (AF) Technology Limited is a remittance company that uses blockchain technology and peer-to-peer exchange to help users in Canada send money to Nigeria. Our goal is to transform cross-border payments to Africa, with plans to expand to all African countries. We are looking for a Compliance Specialist to drive our governance, compliance, and risk programs while ensuring adherence to industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify compliance vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Develop and implement compliance policies, processes, and quality assurance checks for new customer accounts.
- Ensure product features align with anti-money laundering (AML) directives and money transmission regulations.
- Manage the Know Your Customer (KYC) and onboarding processes, including oversight of data collection and storage.
- Create compliance reports and dashboards to communicate key results to stakeholders.
- Deliver compliance training to relevant teams to ensure awareness of product compliance aspects.
- Monitor transactions using analytics tools to detect suspicious or illicit activities.
- Collaborate with Product and Tech teams to integrate compliance feedback into development.
- Stay updated on regulatory developments, including the “Travel Rule” and KYC requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role with a proven understanding of financial compliance legislation.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Subject matter expertise in AML, financial crime, and regulatory compliance.
- Advanced understanding of KYC, CDD, and EDD processes.
- Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with data management tools (e.g., CRM) and the Google Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to spot red flags.
- Crypto knowledge is a plus but not mandatory.
- A strong legal background is an added advantage.
