About the role
Hobark International Limited (HIL) is seeking an experienced Chief Officer or Senior Deck Officer to join its maritime operations. As the parent company of the Hobark group, HIL operates in the oil and gas industry with offices in four countries and its head office in Lagos. This full-time position offers a key leadership role onboard, focusing on safe, efficient, and compliant vessel operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage cargo, ballast, anchor handling, and towing operations.
- Maintain accurate vessel logs, reports, and documentation.
- Ensure safe navigation and effective watchkeeping.
- Lead and supervise the Deck Department.
- Oversee safety management, risk assessments, and emergency preparedness.
- Ensure environmental and regulatory compliance.
- Support and understudy the Master.
- Supervise, train, and mentor crew members.
- Monitor vessel stability, seaworthiness, and deck operations.
- Perform Dynamic Positioning (DP) operations.
Requirements
- Strong expertise in navigation and DP operations.
- Experience in cargo handling, anchor handling, and towing.
- Knowledge of marine safety, environmental regulations, and risk assessment.
- Ability to lead a deck department and support the Master.
