About the role
WTS Energy is seeking a Category Specialist to manage procurement for upstream drilling, completions, and subsurface operations. This position combines technical engineering knowledge with supply chain expertise to drive value and ensure continuity of supply. The role is based in Lagos, Nigeria, and offers a full-time position within a global energy business.
Responsibilities
- Manage the drilling, completions, and subsurface procurement category, including equipment, services, and consumables.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align demand and delivery across drilling, completions, and supply chain teams.
- Lead tendering, contract negotiation, and supplier performance management.
- Track market trends, supplier risk, and spend analytics to report category performance.
- Develop and execute category strategies, sourcing plans, and supplier segmentation.
- Apply technical and commercial expertise to evaluations and cost engineering.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory reporting, and Nigerian Content (NOGICD) obligations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or subsurface discipline (e.g., Petroleum Engineering, Drilling Engineering, Geoscience).
- Minimum 3 years of upstream oil and gas experience in drilling, completions, or subsurface operations.
- Proficiency in cost engineering and relevant industry standards.
- Conversant with standard business suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Preferred: Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle), postgraduate qualification, and professional certifications such as CIPS, APICS/CPIM, or PMI.
