About the role
Join Affirm as a Machine Learning Engineer II to develop high-quality, production-ready models that drive key financial decisions. You will work with proprietary and third-party data to predict default likelihood and support approval or decline decisions. This remote-first role is open to candidates residing in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan.
Responsibilities
- Develop machine learning models to predict default likelihood and support credit decisions.
- Partner with platform and product engineering teams to build model training, decisioning, and monitoring systems.
- Research and prototype new solutions to advance credit decisioning.
- Implement and scale data pipelines, features, and algorithms for production models.
- Collaborate with engineering, credit, and product teams to define requirements for new products.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience as a machine learning engineer or a PhD in a relevant field.
- Proficiency in machine learning, including Generalized Linear Models, Gradient Boosting, Deep Learning, and Probabilistic Calibration.
- Strong engineering skills in Python and data manipulation with SQL.
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems like Spark or Ray.
- Familiarity with open-source tools such as scikit-learn, pandas, NumPy, XGBoost, and Kubeflow.
- Experience developing machine learning models at scale from inception to business impact.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to drive cross-functional requirements.
Pay and benefits
- Base pay range: $133,000 – $183,000 CAD per year.
