About the role

Standard Chartered Bank is seeking an Associate Principal to lead the Investment Advisory team in Lagos. You will be responsible for formulating and executing strategic agendas that maximize growth, market share, and profitability for Investment Services. This role requires taking ownership of the Investment Services P&L ambition and providing leadership to the team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide independent opinions on the quality of clients’ existing portfolios.
  • Liaise with product managers to discuss client requirements and ensure a steady flow of product knowledge.
  • Drive customer experience through quality advice, product offers, and strong relationships with Relationship Managers.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-selling and referrals to other business lines.
  • Market new investment products and analyze potential business to ensure maximum profitability.
  • Work with the Head of Investment Advisory to develop and execute marketing initiatives for client acquisition and retention.
  • Visit branches to support marketing efforts and understand client investment needs.
  • Ensure compliance with Group and Business Policies, Procedures, and Standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BSc/BA).
  • Professional memberships and continuous development in banking practices.
  • Completion of mandatory bank training, including role-specific and regulatory/compliance courses.
  • Knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering, Conflict of Interest, and Sanctions.
  • Strong skills in communication, technical competency, problem-solving, and risk management.
