About the role
Travicon Global Services Limited is seeking an Assistant Cook with a basic knowledge of Chinese cuisine to join their team in Jabi, Abuja. This full-time position involves supporting the Head Cook in daily kitchen operations, ensuring meals are prepared efficiently, and maintaining high standards of food hygiene.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and cooking Chinese meals under the supervision of the Head Cook.
- Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, meat, and fish by washing, peeling, and cutting.
- Prepare specific dishes including steamed buns, dumplings, rice, noodles, soups, and stir-fried dishes.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, utensils, and cooking equipment.
- Store food ingredients properly and monitor freshness to minimize waste.
- Assist with meal serving to ensure food is ready at scheduled times.
- Follow instructions from the Head Cook and comply with company food safety procedures.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge or experience in preparing Chinese meals.
- Ability to identify common Chinese cooking ingredients, seasonings, and sauces.
- Basic cooking skills and a willingness to learn new recipes and techniques.
- Knowledge of kitchen hygiene, food handling, and safe storage practices.
- Ability to work effectively with the Head Cook and other kitchen staff.
- Relevant cooking experience or culinary training is an advantage.
