About the role
Benin Medical Care is a multi-specialty hospital and diagnostic centre located in Benin City, Edo State. We are looking for a dedicated Anaesthetic Nurse to join our team. In this full-time position, you will provide safe and effective nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. You will work closely with anaesthetists to ensure patient safety and high-quality clinical outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Assist the anaesthetist with induction, maintenance, and recovery from anaesthesia, including medication preparation and airway management.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and clinical condition throughout procedures, responding promptly to any emergencies.
- Prepare and assess patients before surgery, ensuring proper identification, consent, and readiness.
- Prepare, check, clean, and maintain anaesthetic equipment, medications, and supplies.
- Provide post-anaesthetic care, monitor recovery, and ensure safe patient handover.
- Maintain strict infection prevention, patient safety, and theatre standards.
- Accurately document patient care, anaesthetic procedures, and clinical observations.
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Requirements
- Valid registration and practising licence with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
- Registered Nurse (RN) qualification.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant clinical experience, preferably in an operating theatre or anaesthetic setting.
- Current knowledge of anaesthetic procedures, patient monitoring, and emergency care.
- A post-basic qualification or certification in Perioperative/Theatre Nursing or a related speciality is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
