About the role

KannyVic Enterprise Consult is recruiting on behalf of a reputable agricultural organization. We are looking for an experienced Agronomist to support and lead various agricultural activities. This full-time position is based in Nigeria. The role focuses on crop production, plantation development, agroforestry systems, orchard management, and nursery operations. You will be responsible for managing field crops, horticultural activities, and yearly crop calendars.

Responsibilities

  • Lead agronomic planning and field crop production activities.
  • Develop yearly crop calendars, seasonal crop plans, and cropping project plans.
  • Supervise land preparation, planting, maintenance, and harvesting operations.
  • Support the establishment and management of tree crops, orchards, and agroforestry systems.
  • Work with crops including oil palm, coconut, cocoa, citrus, cashew, mango, rice, maize, and vegetables.
  • Oversee nursery operations, seedling production, grafting, and fruit tree propagation.
  • Monitor crop growth, pest pressure, disease incidence, and soil conditions.
  • Recommend fertilizer, irrigation, pruning, and pest control practices.
  • Train and supervise farm workers on good agronomic practices.
  • Prepare input schedules, field work plans, and production reports.
  • Maintain accurate records for field, nursery, and orchard performance.

Requirements

  • HND, Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent qualification in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, or a related field.
  • 8–10 years of practical field experience in crop production, plantation management, or farm management.
  • Practical knowledge of tree crops, orchards, field crops, and crop protection.
  • Experience with oil palm, coconut, cocoa, citrus, cashew, mango, and vegetables is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of grafting, budding, layering, and fruit tree propagation.
  • Ability to develop crop calendars, project plans, and field reports.
  • Willingness to work outdoors, travel to farm sites, and operate in rural environments.
  • Honest, disciplined, and able to work with minimal supervision.
