About the role
The Borough Lagos is a boutique hotel located in the heart of Lagos, known for its luxury amenities and service. We are looking for an experienced Accountant with a strong background in restaurant or grocery/retail operations. This role involves managing the company’s financial activities and supporting day-to-day operations in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
- Conduct internal audits on cash handling, inventory, and operational processes.
- Reconcile daily sales from POS systems across cash, card, and transfer transactions.
- Monitor revenue streams from restaurant and retail operations to ensure record accuracy.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
- Work closely with operations teams to identify financial leakages and cost-saving opportunities.
- Track and analyze inventory movement, cost of goods sold (COGS), wastage, and variances.
- Manage supplier invoices, payments, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and process monthly payroll, including statutory deductions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of accounting experience in restaurant, supermarket, or retail environments.
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting, POS reconciliation, and cost control systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
- ICAN certification (or in view) is a strong advantage.
