About the role
Penafort Energy Limited is a values-driven Nigerian company operating in energy, retail, beverages, and automotive services. We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to manage the financial records and transactions for our supermarket operations. This is a full-time position based in Festac Town, Lagos.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile daily sales, cash collections, POS transactions, and other payment channels.
- Monitor daily revenue, operational expenses, cash flow, and cost of goods sold.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper documentation of all transactions.
- Reconcile supplier invoices, payment records, and outstanding balances.
- Monitor and reconcile inventory records, stock movements, and purchases.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports.
- Identify and investigate discrepancies in sales, cash, inventory, and financial records.
- Ensure compliance with accounting procedures, internal controls, and company policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years of proven accounting experience, specifically in a supermarket or retail business.
- Practical knowledge of supermarket sales reconciliation, inventory accounting, and supplier account management.
- Experience with POS reconciliation and multiple payment channels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant accounting software.
- ICAN/ACCA certification or membership in view is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with high integrity and accountability.
