Twitter: UK reacts as govt lifts ban

The British Government has reacted to the lifting of the ban on micro-blogging site, Twitter, by the Nigerian government after seven months.

OMADAILY had reported that the decision to lift the ban was confirmed by the Chairman, Technical Committee Nigeria-Twitter Engagement & Director-General National Information Technology Development (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, on Wednesday.

In a statement in , Kashifu noted that the approval was given following a memo written to President Muhammadu Buhari by his Minister of and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami.

Reacting, Catriona Laing, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, welcomed the decision, adding that social media plays a valuable in boosting a economy.

She tweeted, ”I welcome Nigeria’s decision to restore access to Twitter.
