Independence Day: Wike berates NASS for lack of oversight function on executive
Governor Wike, who was speaking during an interdenominational church thanksgiving in commemoration of the 61st anniversary of Nigeria in Port Harcourt on Sunday, berated the National Assembly for always accepting whatever the executive brings without proper scrutiny.
He said, “a legislature that cannot think, anything they bring is right. A legislature that cannot see that Nigerian has gotten to the age for conducting a free and fair election.
“A legislature that will close their eyes, any time they want to borrow they borrow. A legislature that will not ask; this money we are going to borrow, where is it? Where are you applying it?
“So indeed what are we celebrating?”
The Governor also lamented over the “intimation” of judges in Nigeria, claiming that judges have abandoned their duties because of fear.
