Don’t use ministerial screening as vendetta – Northern Christians tell Senators

As the Senate get set to commence the screening of ministerial
nominees on Tuesday, CRYSTAL NEWS gathered that, the Northern Christian Solidarity Forum (NCSF)
yesterday warned
Senators against witch-hunting some of the nominees.
NCSF,
a non-governmental that focuses on strengthening unity
among Christians and Muslims extraction of Northern , said any
act of using the Ministerial screening to witch- anybody would not
augur well for the .

National Chairman of the Forum and a
former Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna
, Rev. John Joseph Hayab in a statement, Senators to
be fair in their screening to enable the country move forward.

“We
are appealing to the members of the National Assembly, especially the
Senators not to use the screening of the Ministers to settle scores,” he
said.

According to him, screening of the Ministerial nominees
should not be a case of vendetta, adding that “the Senate must be
sincere in their screening so that Nigerians will appreciate their
work.”

He disagreed with the Senate for saying that ministerial
nominees must have the approval of at least two Senators from their
state to scale through.

“For them to say that two Senators must
accept the Minister nominee from his or her State is a sign of vendetta.
They should the constitutional provisions and do the right
thing,” said Hayab.
He
argued that “if the Ministerial nominee is not qualified, let Nigerians
know why he is not qualified, but if the person is qualified, then
Nigeria should have him or her. We can’t run our country with people
settling scores.”
