Doctors without borders express over of staff

The international humanitarian organisation Médecins Frontières otherwise called Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has shock over the of one of its staff, Hassan by armed persons in Zamfara northwest .

A statement by MSF on Wednesday said Mohammad Hassan, a 37-year-old nurse, employed by MSF in Shinkafi, Zamfara State in northwest was killed on October 2 when armed individuals opened fire on the vehicle in which he was travelling.

The statement said the entire organisation remained “shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the of our colleague. Our thoughts at this tragic time are with his family and friends. We are supporting them in these difficult circumstances.”

The statement added that Mohammad’s tragic was an example of the rising in northwest that is deeply affecting the lives of the population and has driven thousands of people from their homes.

The statement said: “MSF condemns the attack and calls for the respect of civilians and humanitarian .

“In Zamfara state, MSF provides medical humanitarian assistance to the populations of Anka, Gusau, and Zurmi.
In Shinkafi, MSF teams run a 33-bed therapeutic feeding centre and an inpatient paediatric department in Shinkafi general . We also provide mental consultations and provide care for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.”
