Detention of Ojukaye:The Civil Society Organization Storms Port Harcourt Prison

Some group of protesters drawn across different parts of Rivers state on Monday, stormed the entrance of the Port Harcourt prison, condemning the arrest and detention of a former boss Ojukaye Flag-Amachree.

Gathered under the aegis of the society organization, the protesters, mainly women and youth, demanded the immediate release of Ojukaye, describing his continued detention without Investigation as uncalled for and totally unacceptable.

Chanting of grievances and displaying placards which bore various inscriptions such as “Free OJ now” “Ojukaye is sick, free Him”, “Ojukaye deserves justice”, “Rivers Chief is Wickedly Wiked”, “Port Harcourt Prison Unsafe for Ojukaye” amongst others, the protesters said they were no longer comfortable with the Impunity in Rivers State.

One of the protesters Who addressed himself as the co-ordinator of APC youth league in Rivers State, Abiye . our correspondent Martins Ogolo why the Civil society organization were Protesting.

In his words: “as you can see the placards here it’s a clamour for justice, it’s a clamour for fair . We are all aware of the speedy nature of the trial, it is worrisome this has a high level of inclinations. If someone should be tried, proper investigation must be carried out. Our problem is that proper investigation has not been done, I believe the of the civil society organization have been heard today by this peaceful protest.”
